Antique Nine-Patch Quilt dating from the Civil War Era. Measures 77 x 79.5 - Hand-pieced and Hand-Quilted. This is a beautifully preserved Nine-Patch quilt with chain quilting in border that dates from the Civil War Era. Due to its age, please note that there are 3 tears of wear in the center of the quilt (please see last two pictures) and some fading gradations in the red areas of the quilt that is to be expected with the age of the quilt. The binding is worn all the way around as shown in one of the latter photos. I have tried to get the colors on the monitor as close to what you see in person. This is still a beautiful vintage antique quilt that would look gorgeous as a wallhanging. I bought this quilt in the 80s from a quilt shop in Newport, Rhode Island and the shop indicated that the provenance of the quilt was from a family that has resided in Newport for generations. The shop indicated that they dated it from the civil war era due to the fabrics used in the quilt.
This is a real piece of Americana. This comes from a pet-free, smoke-free home.
