CIVIL WAR ERA French Grenadier Short Sword -Brass Grip-Cutlass Blade. This is a modified short sword using a French Grenadier's brass grip and D-guard and mating it to a Naval Cutlass blade of unknown origin. I also added an aged blade washer to it as well. The scabbard is a reproduction one that is of wood covered with leather and a brass drag with a belt loop attaching system. The blade is 25-7/8"s long and is 1-5/32"s wide and is app 5/16s thick at the ricasso and it has an un-stopped fuller. The brass grip / hilt has Versailles along with other French proof markings on the knuckle bow and the cross guard some on obverse and others on reverse. The scabbard fit it well so I added it in the deal. The blade has light rust areas and some pitting but is in very good condition for what it is. Thanks for looking and best regards.
